The HP DesignJet 500/800 Series printing platform encompasses four printing systems -- the HP DesignJet 800, 500, 800PS and 500PS printers -- and delivers excellent line and photo quality to both technical and graphics customers.

Each new HP DesignJet printer comes in 42-inch (A1/D) or 24-inch (A0+/E+) sizes and offers the following features:

  • an off-axis ink system;
  • 304 nozzles in each half-inch printhead, producing 18-picoliter black-pigmented drops and 4-picoliter color dye-based drops;
  • 69-cc ink-cartridge capacity;
  • HP color layering technology;
  • up to 1200 dots per inch (dpi) on HP DesignJet 500 Series printing systems;

HP DesignJet 800 and 500 Printing Systems for Technical Professionals

HP DesignJet 800 and 500 printers are designed to meet the rendering and color line-drawing needs of architects, engineers, construction designers and mechanical designers. The HP DesignJet 800 printer also is designed for GIS professionals). These systems deliver superior line accuracy and excellent photo quality, and print sharp, fine lines as thin as .002 inch with an accuracy of +/-0.2 percent of the specified page length.

HP DesignJet 800PS and 500PS Printing Systems for Graphic Professionals

The HP DesignJet 800PS and 500PS printing systems are designed for graphics professionals. For example, the HP DesignJet 800PS printing system includes an embedded Adobe PostScript 3 RIP, and the HP DesignJet 500PS includes an Adobe PostScript 3 software RIP for Macintosh and Windows®. Both printers deliver excellent photo quality and color management, using an automatic closed-loop color-calibration system for truly consistent colors with every print.
