How to lubricate your slide rails

Back to Designjet Service & Repairs

It's important that you don't use just any oil for this job.  While the easy option is to purchase the Oil Applicator Kit from our Shop (in our accessories section), you can also use a light oil especially designed for this type of work and apply it with a lint free cloth. Just remember never to apply oil direct to the slide rails!

HP have issued the following cautionary notes:

  1. For HP Designjet 200, 300 and 400 series printers - these printers have brass bushings and oil part number 6040-0858 must be used
  2. For HP Designjet 500, 600, 700, 800, 1000, 2000 and 3000 series printers - these printers have Teflon bushings and HP Synthetic Oil part number 6040-0855 must be used

Instructions

Lubrication of the slide rails is something you can undertake yourself in order to keep your HP Designjet printer running optimally, although this is one of the things that our engineers will also do for you as part of a normal annual service visit.
